Rock Girl is "a grassroots public art and education campaign to raise awareness for the need of safe spaces from violence for girls and women". The 'Safe Spaces Initiative' was launched to put a spotlight on the problems women and girls in South Africa face on a daily basis. The charity contacted reknown artists, designers and architects to construct benches around the city of Cape Town - each bench also has a sister bench and a phone that allows listeners to find out about the initiative, hear the stories of women and a helpline for victims.

As an African woman, these types of initiatives hit me at my core and I am suprised I had never heard of it until today. The idea is so simple but the effect will be immense!
