30 day hair challenge + update!

I started a 30 day hair challenge on Monday.

DAY 1: HOMEMADE HAIR MASK (JBCO, Coconut oil, HONEY, egg) + trim

DAY 2: Cornrows

DAY 3-14: MIST HAIR WITH GLYCERIN + WATER MIX + OIL WITH JBCO MORNING AND NIGHT (CO-WASH HAIR ON SUNDAYS - GENTLY WITH TEPID WATER)

DAY 15: SHAMPOO WITH BLACK SOAP, CONDITION THEN NEW Cornrows

DAY 16-30: MIST HAIR WITH GLYCERIN + WATER MIX + OIL WITH JBCO MORNING AND NIGHT (CO-WASH HAIR ON SUNDAYS - GENTLY WITH TEPID WATER)

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!
The challenge was a success. My edges filled out really well and my hair is longer (of course because hair grows) but most importantly fuller and healthier.

Sorry about the blurry pics. I had just taken out the cornrows and the lighting is bad.

Keri Hilson x braids of LIFE!!

How muvva friggin beautiful is Keri Hilson. I've noticed it before but the box braids really do her justice since it pulls all the hair away from her face and lets her beauty shine through. Eurgh I want braids now!!

RACHEL ROY RESORT 2014

I always get a  "I'm grown and in-charge" vibe from Rachel Roy's collections. She designs with the career woman in mind. The kind of woman that wants to look as good as she feels, likes simple items that aren't too showy and are seasonless. Her collection is for the boardroom to the bar without looking over/underdressed in both situations. I could see an 18 year old wearing this collection without looking too old and a 40+ woman wearing this without looking too young. A great collection.

Tattoo

I am obsessed with tattoos. I only have 2 but I've never really wanted to rush them as I've got my whole life ahead of me...and I kinda like the idea of getting tattooed around the world (not random artists though) and that requires a ton of research..because a tatt is for life!!

My first ever tattoo was 3 stars on my right foot (different sizes). Then a diamond on my right wrist. I could sit here and give you some long poetic story (there is one) but I won't. They both do mean something to me.

I love small and slight subtle pieces but also want 1 large piece for my left side on my ribcage. Saira Hunjan is the artist I would love to tattoo me but unfortunately she's retired and ventured into collaborations with fashion labels etc (my heart weeps). Her art is inspired by indian henna art and culture. She uses colour and geometrics to add intricate detail to her pieces and they are truly beautiful. Sigh, no rush though!

#Followmeto

How awesome is this. A guy and his girl taking us with them around the world. I love the concept and also how they've managed to throw fashion into the mix.

Follow him on instagram and see where they end up next.

My hair....so far.

From bald to 10 cm in a little over year. I'm kinda happy with my progress. Right now my hair is in tiny braids  (minimal manipulation). They are really easy to manage and I like to keep my regimen simple because I'm lazy!

My regimen
-Braid hair every 3-4 weeks then I take them out then DC and protein treatment.
-Co-wash with tresemme naturals every other day (I live in a hot ass country..sweaty hair aint sexy!)
-Wash hair with black soap on Saturdays
-Oil hair every night with my homemade JBCO + coconut oil mix (just 2 ingredients..simple!)
-Trim hair every 2-3 months
-If my hair is feeling dry I mist it with my homemade hair mist (filtered water, glycerin and rose water).

-I want to start including hot oil treatments at some point.

Length: a little over 10cm!!! Going to TRY and get to 15 cm by December.

Bob

It's been a year since I last wore a weave. I put myself on weave hiatus because my hair just wasn't my focus anymore, my weaves were. But....I'm itching to weave it up again and have decided I'll only get a weave once a year...wearing it for 2-3 months then go back to the fro. Weaves are a great protective style (due to minimal manipulation of my real hair) ..so as long you take care of the hair underneath everything is good!

I want a "grown and sexy" do this time around and I'm loving the long bob styles I've seen on Ciara, Malaysia Pargo, Nicole Richie & co. It just looks easy to manage. I was thinking of doing it ombre-ish (more brown than blonde)..but still thinking about it.

I've ordered 3 bundles of 14 inch Cambodian hair from micheall.com - heard great things about the hair + the service so can't wait to see it and I ordered a closure from the hairandbeautycentre.co.uk (my go to store for lace wigs for years- so affordable!)

Will do a review on the extensions and closure when I get them.

Dress your curves

Curves with a capital C and S!

Rules:
  1. Focus on flattering and smoothing out your curves by playing around with different textures and fabrics.
  2. Who the f said we can't wear bright colours...huh!?
  3. Girl...if you've got it flaunt it!!!
  4. Print it up but in moderation
  5. Heels to lengthen those legs
  6. Cinch the waist to accentuate your figure 8 and give your body proportions
  7. Stripes: horizontal stripes can make you look bigger so try vertical stripes to elongate the bod
  8. Accentuate one area at a time...no need to show ass, boobs and hips..keep a little to the imagination.
  9. Work with different lengths: from mullet skirts to maxis, cropped trousers to high waisted shorts.
